Dick
Franson Filed for Mayor of Minneapolis-DFL-2009 and said, "The voters
need new leadership in City Hall. We cannot afford R.T. RYBAK &
THE PRESENT CITY COUNCIL!"
Dick Franson, a conservative democrat and pro-life candidate, filed for
Mayor of Minneapolis on July 7, 2009 at City Hall.
Mr. Franson said, "My campaign slogan is:
Taxpayers
must rise up and clean house by defeating all 13 city council members
and the present milquetoast Mayor R.T. Rybak for neglecting the proper
maintenance of our bridges, sewers, streets, public buildings and
parks."
Minnesotans must never forget the August 1, 2007 collapse of the 35W
Bridge over the Mississippi River.
As candidate for the U.S. Senate from Minnesota in 1994, 2000, 2002,
and as a candidate for Minnesota Secretary of State in 2006. I warned
all public officials in a 16-issue "White Paper" that there may be
tragic disasters if our infrastructure is not properly maintained. If I
am elected Mayor of Minneapolis, safeguarding our infrastructures will
be a high priority as well as holding the line on taxes. We cannot
afford the present city council and mayor because they are big spenders.
As candidate for Mayor of Minneapolis, Dick Franson will not shy away
from important issues such as:
1. In my judgement, the National Guard should be in use in high-crime
areas every summer until crime goes down. They need to be trained
anyway.
2. There needs to be two police officers to every patrol car. The
criminals have more fire power than the cops!
3. In my opinion, the present police chief, Tim Dolan, is doing a good
job. If he ever has to be replaced we should always select from within
our own police department, and not go nationwide like we have in the
past.
4. I will personally go into high-crime areas at night to find out
what's happening. I will be the best friend the police force has had
since Hubert H. Humphrey.
5. We have to provide for the indigents and provide daycare. I'm a
believer in social issues.
6. I'm going to donate all of my salary to the homeless and indigents
and I will work for a dollar a year.
7. If we really want to generate 1,000 jobs, and keep downtown open 24
hours per day, we have to bring a casino into the downtown area.
8. We need to build 1,000 housing unites for senior citizens. They are
scared stiff in the housing projects.
9. I am going to propose term limits for all elected officials in
Minneapolis. We have to go back to a two year term for Aldermen they're
council members now and the mayor because they are not accountable.
10. I will propose the city attorney to be elected. The public has a
difficult time getting information out of this office.
11. I will propose council members change their title back to Alderman.
It's a great title, and I have always been proud to be called a retired
Alderman.
12. Since I am a retired Army First Sergeant I believe city hall should
be pro-military. I will never oppose Junior ROTC programs in our
Minneapolis schools, like some mayors in the past.
HOT NEWS:
If I am
unsuccessful in running for MAYOR of MINNEAPOLIS in 2009, I will file
for MINNESOTA SECRETARY OF STATE in 2010. Remember R.T. RYBAK REALLY
WANTS TO BE GOVERNOR NOT MAYOR. This will be my 25th run for public
office, and the 3rd time for SECRETARY OF STATE.
